With so much to distract us or so many goals to pursue, it may get tricky to feel like one understands the point of this world. And when trouble strikes, when conflict bubbles over, one may feel totally helpless.
I believe that every person matters -- that it is the most worthwhile goal in the whole wide world to lift up others and remind them that they matter.
I have felt unseen. I have felt unloved. I have ached to be known and to feel like I matter to people. Truth... I still feel these things regularly.
Since I am a fixer who has spent a lot of time learning to focus on what I CAN control, my purpose has become lifting those I can. I am trying not to get bogged down by the pain and heartbreak and misery that fills the world. I am trying to spread light and love the best way I can.
I painted this piece for the upcoming auction through Vision of the Arts -- a scholarship fund for artists.
Matthew 25:40 was the jumping off point for this piece.
"Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
The whole point is to love others -- to remind them they matter.
