Hey! I'm Brooke. I'm a Utah-based folk artist. I work mainly with gouache (pronounced gwash). I love bright colors, high contrast, and intricate details. The natural world is so inspiring to me, and I love to paint plants and animals and include symbolism and meaning into each piece.

In miniature
For the Utah Art Market, I wanted to make some smaller paintings as part of a series of hot air balloons. Here's the first one I've finished: This one was made using the help of my Silhouette machine for all the tiny cutting. I drew everything in my iPad first, and then let the Silhouette do the cutting. Then, I painted and pasted everything. I love how it turned out.

Drumroll, please
I am so excited to show you my newest painting. I wanted to capture whimsy and fun... the best parts of winter for me. This is a gouache collage piece. I drew, then hand-cut, then hand-painted each piece of this painting before gluing. I am especially excited with how the woven basket turned out! I am planning to have this piece available at the upcoming Utah Art Market on December 3rd-6th. Here it is! Here are some closeup shots:
