An Ear of Corn

Summer sunshine tucked

in golden, pearl pockets

Boil, butter, bite

I just LOVE hot, buttered corn with a generous sprinkle of Trader Joe's Everything but the Elote seasoning. I don't know if there is a more perfect summer side dish.

Corn feels like it has soaked up the summer sun and stored it for the coming gray days. Because corn is a late summer crop where I live, I wanted a background that hearkened the coming fall. I chose an autumnal plaid and yellow mums -- things that remind me the summer is winding down.
