Frequently Asked Questions

1.

Do you sell prints of your work?

Yes! Not every piece I paint will have prints of it made, but many will. I am finding a printer and figuring out the digitization of paintings, so this side of things will expand more in the future.

2.

Do you have sales?

Not often. Sorry! Prints and greeting cards are affordable ways to own a piece of my work, though.

3.

What about doing a commission?

I am open to the idea, but have yet to complete a specific commission. There are some obvious potential issues for me and the person who commissions the piece. Until I feel confident that I know the best way to avoid problems or disappointments, I will be very choosy about completing commissions. Please feel free to reach out with specific enquiries.

4.

What inspired you to paint in the folk art style? And is that all you do?

I have always thought the symmetry and intricacy of folk art is beautiful. I have a particular connection to Western European folk art through my ancestors. Folk Art, to me, speaks to the need for order through symmetry, but keeps things interesting with all the details and flourishes. It's symmetrical enough to be calming, but chaotic enough to be interesting.

I do paint other subjects and in other styles. I feel like I am still growing and learning in painting more realistic styles and in learning to loosen up and paint with details, but also fewer details, to capture the impressionistic style that speaks to my soul. When I feel more confident in this are, I will branch out in a more public way.
