I’m going to be candid… I’ve had a painting in my mind for over a year. But this painting requires a totally different style than my usual faire. I am feeling all sorts of insecurity about creating what is in my head when I do not have practice making it happen in this new way!

Things that are different:

1. Using acrylic paint (I rarely do, but this isn’t totally unusual for me).

2. Softer brushstrokes

3. Softer lines (normally I paint with very hard lines between elements)

4. A building (I usually paint organic subjects)

The hardest part about this painting has been getting the tree to look like a tree without painting 8,000,000 leaves. And the clouds. I’m really struggling to make these clouds happen!

With that in mind, here is the painting in its current state.

I’ve got plenty left to paint, but I am watching my dreams materialize as I fight through all the new techniques I am trying.
